Crust Balmain Step-up to Support the 2017 Gold Telethon

Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar Balmain, is showcasing its community spirit this week as they set out to support the 2017 Gold Telethon; part of the six week Gold Appeal Campaign which launched on 1 May and culminates in the Gold Telethon Broadcast.

The store will be generously donating Crust pizzas to all of the hard-working volunteer staff who will be taking phone calls and donations for the fundraising event.

It marks the eighth year of broadcast for the Telethon, which is the Foundation’s signature event and has raised more than $24 million since it started; ensuring the very best care can be provided to sick children and their families.

Since taking over the store just four months ago, Crust Balmain franchise partners Rocky Musolino and Sam Virtu, are placing a huge emphasis on community support.

“My business partner and I have a genuine love for the area as we both grew up here and we are always on the lookout for deserving community initiatives to support,” Rocky said.

Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO Nicola Stokes said the annual Gold Telethon wouldn’t be possible without the hardworking volunteers at the Mastercard Call Centre, who take floods of calls during the day from generous people wanting to donate.

“Crust Pizza is contributing to helping sick kids by making sure our volunteers stay fuelled, so we can raise vital funds for the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick,” Ms Stokes said.

“The Mastercard Call Centre will be an integral component helping us achieve our fundraising target of $6 million for our eighth Gold Telethon. By providing a special treat, on a special occasion to our hardworking volunteers manning the call centre, Crust Pizza is doing their bit for sick and injured kids.”

It’s not the first time that Crust Gourmet Pizza has partnered with the Gold Telethon, in 2014 as part of their Golden Gourmet Pizza Week fundraising campaign, over thirty Crust stores across Sydney donated $2 per pizza sold online to the Gold Telethon.

“Sam and I are so thankful for the opportunity to support the volunteers behind such a worthy cause, we love what we do and we’re excited to put our pizza making skills to good use!” Rocky said.

Funds raised through the annual Gold Appeal and Gold Telethon have helped to fund vital life-saving medical equipment, ground breaking research and critical frontline services across all areas of the Hospital. This year, with the help of the generous community, the Foundation is hoping to raise an outstanding $6 million for Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick.

Tune in to the Gold Telethon on Monday 12 June from 9am on Channel 9, and help ensure the very best care for sick children and their families at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick.
